arrow As the undisputed #1 tourism destination on the planet, the country of France offers thousands of things to see and do. Arguably, the most significant attraction in France, and for that matter Europe, is the unforgettable city of Paris. It exudes ambiance and style, and notable must-sees include the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees, Eiffel Tower, Latin Quarter, Louvre, Musêe d'Orsay and Notre Dame Cathedral.

Additional points-of-interest in France include Saint Malo and the rugged coastline of Brittany, Corsica, Chateau De Versailles, Euro Disney Land, the stunning Loire Valley, the French Alps and Pyrenees, the Côte d'Azur and the Mediterranean cities of Cannes and Nice.

France is renowned for its architecture, art, cinema, cuisine, fashion, literature, music and wine. Its countless attractions, enchanting culture and pastoral countryside attract millions of visitors from around the world.

For travel tips, city details, major attractions and points-of-interest, follow the links below.

GENERAL ITEMS OF INTEREST

arrow Currency France uses the euro countrywide. Instead of traveling with your own country's currency and then paying the somewhat expensive cash conversion rates, we suggest - to get the best exchange rate - you use an ATM for cash and credit cards for purchases.

arrow Electricity France runs on 230 volts AC (50 cycles). Note that most modern laptop, cell phone and digital camera chargers are dual voltage and will work perfectly in France with just a simple adapter plug. Find electrical adapters, products and tips here!

arrow Times to Travel France enjoys a moderate climate with regional and obvious seasonal variations. April in Paris? Well, most travelers agree that the late spring and early summer months are the best time to visit France, as the weather is consistently at its best. The sea is warm enough for swimming between June and September, and as early as May along the Cote d'Azur.

In August most locals escape the city heat and take their month-long vacations. The beaches and mountains are subsequently packed, and many shops and restaurants are closed during this period.

Fall and early winters are often quite pleasant along the Bay of Biscay and Mediterranean Sea coastlines. The ski season runs between December and April, and the world class resorts in the Alps and Pyrenees are popular (yet pricey) destinations. Note that the Christmas season in those mountain resorts and cities is very crowded.

VISAS

arrow A valid passport is required to enter France. For stays up to 90 days visa requirements (if any) vary from country to country. To find out whether or not you need to apply for a visa, we suggest you visit the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

For stays longer than 90 days regarding employment, study or tourism, a visa is required and must be obtained in advance. For additional info please contact the French Embassy with jurisdiction over your individual country of residence.
