The cozy downtown has fun and quirky shops like CocoShack and cafes like Bean Broker Coffee House and Pub. And to learn more about Chadron’s past, there’s no better place than the Museum of the Fur Trade. The town even hosts an annual Fur Trade Days held every summer which has live music, historical reenactments, and a carnival.

Minden

Take a step back into the past in the sleepy hamlet of Minden. Known as Nebraska’s “Christmas City”, the town is a must-see during the Christmas season. Aside from the stunning 12,000 light display on Courthouse Square, they also celebrate with the annual Christmas Pageant, held every year since 1946! While Minden transforms into a Christmas wonderland during the month of December, it also comes alive in the summer, too!

One of the biggest warm-weather attractions in Minden is the Pioneer Village. It’s an extensive museum complex where you can spend the entire day walking the grounds admiring over 50,000 Americana artifacts. If you prefer a more laid-back vibe to escape for the weekend, the hometown atmosphere of Broken Bow will soothe what ails you!
