Marietta

Situated at the confluence of the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers, the historic town of Marietta offers plenty of splendid natural scenery. Established in the 1780s by French colonists and now home to a population of just under 14,000 inhabitants, in addition to the natural ambience on hand here is loads of fascinating living history ready to be discovered. Founded by Swiss and German immigrants in the 1830s, the town of Sugarcreek is also lovingly known as “The Little Switzerland of Ohio”. Today, just over 2,300 inhabitants call this special “European” town home which maintains a unique flavor of the Alps. Marvel at the many Swiss Alpine like chalet homes and buildings which make for quite the charming photo collection, while the world’s largest cuckoo clock surely cannot be missed!
