Ojai is located in the scenic Topatopa Mountains just north of Los Angeles. The downtown area, with its Spanish Colonial-style buildings, is a haven for the kinds of local galleries, boutique shops, and farm-to-table restaurants that are simply hard to find in the big city.

Ojai’s natural surroundings make it a perfect destination for outdoor enthusiasts, with nearby trails like Shelf Road leading hikers to amazing views of the Ojai Valley. As one of the biggest draws to Ojai, the Ojai Valley is mainly famous for its "pink moment" — a rare optical effect that bathes the valley in a pink hue during sunset.

Ojai has also long been a hub for yoga retreats and spa experiences, drawing people seeking relaxation and rejuvenation. Whether you're looking to calm your mind and body or go on an exciting hike, Ojai remains a charming and essential destination in southern California for 2024.

Here, hiking trails, picnic areas, and campgrounds await. The nearby Indian Canyons also contain several scenic hikes through lush palm oases. Be sure to bring lots of water and protection from the sun, whether it is sunscreen or appropriate clothing (or both), as this region of California is quite arid and gets very hot during the day.

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is a great outing for the whole family. It contains a huge selection of animals as well as dozens of botanical gardens featuring plants that are native and from around the world.
