Saddam Hussein was captured by US forces on the 13th of December 2003, put on trial and subsequently hung in 2006. After disappearing from public view shortly after the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 Hussein went into hiding but was found just 9 months after the initial bombing campaign of Baghdad known as "shock and awe".
