About Deserts
From their extreme temperatures to the unique animals that inhabit them, deserts are a fascinating place. The largest desert in the world is the Antarctic Desert, which stretches for 5.5 million square miles at the south pole. The largest hot desert in the world, and what people most likely think of when they think of a desert landscape, is the Sahara Desert. The Sahara Desert is shared by a number of countries: Morocco, Mali, Mauritania, Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Chad, Niger, Sudan, Nigeria, and Burkina Faso.
